HONEYCHURCH HOUSE

Project:             New Residence

Location:           Rowella, Tasmania

One of the first new residences of a new subdivision, our clients were after a smaller house as their children had grown up and left home.  The brief was for a large garage capable of storing multiple cars, a boat and numerous other things.  The site was heavily excavated to push this back into cut and open up the block to both solar aspect and river views.  The main living area opens up to cathedral ceilings providing volume with the kitchen nestled in under a glazed roof and associated windows streaming in light and creating the sense of being outside.  The living areas both open to courts, providing shelter at different times of the day to suit the sun's path and also the varied weather patterns.  Rendered masonry walls with western red cedar shiplap boards, coupled with large glass panels complete the fabric of this dwelling, combing the internal and external spaces seamlessly.
